MIAMI, Sept. 20 (UPI) — If you’re looking for reliable tight ends in Week 3 of the fantasy football season, consider starting Cade Otton and Hayden Hurst. These two players have proven their worth in previous games and are poised for strong performances this week.

Before making your final lineup decisions, make sure to check out my updated rankings for quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers. These rankings will be adjusted to reflect any recent developments, such as injuries, that may impact player performance.

The rankings exclude the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers tight ends, as they have already played their Thursday night game.

Leading my list of top 20 tight ends are T.J. Hockenson, Mark Andrews, Evan Engram, and Travis Kelce. In addition to these players, I highly recommend starting Cade Otton, Hayden Hurst, and Zach Ertz in Week 3.

Logan Thomas, who has been ruled out for the week, should be benched.

Evan Engram

Ranked at No. 3 in my list, Evan Engram has been a consistent performer for the Jacksonville Jaguars this season. He has already recorded 106 receiving yards on 11 catches in his first two games. Engram is a reliable option who should continue to play a prominent role in the Jaguars offense.

This week, the Jaguars are facing the Houston Texans. With their defense allowing six catches for 80 yards and a touchdown to Indianapolis Colts tight ends in Week 2, this matchup bodes well for Engram. He is currently one of the top five tight ends in terms of fantasy points per game, making him an ideal choice for your lineup this week.

Make sure to start Engram in all leagues that require a tight end.

Zach Ertz

Leading all tight ends in targets this season, Zach Ertz is a key player for the Arizona Cardinals. He currently ranks within the top 12 tight ends for fantasy points per game. Ertz has consistently made six catches in each of his first two games, totaling 56 receiving yards in Week 2 against the New York Giants.

This week, the Cardinals will face the Dallas Cowboys. Although the Cowboys have decent tight end defense, I anticipate Ertz to receive at least eight targets in this game. Currently ranked at No. 6, Ertz could potentially break into the top five if he scores a touchdown.

Hayden Hurst

Ranked at No. 8 for Week 3, Hayden Hurst of the Carolina Panthers will be going up against the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle. The Seahawks have allowed the fourth-most receiving yards to tight ends through two weeks, giving Hurst an opportunity to shine.

In Week 2, the Seahawks allowed five catches for 53 yards to Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta. In Week 1, they surrendered four catches for 70 yards to Los Angeles Rams tight ends. Hurst has already proven himself as a top-five tight end this season among those who have played two games. While he may be a touchdown-dependent option, I believe he has a good chance to find the end zone against the Seahawks.

Cade Otton

Cade Otton, listed as my No. 10 play for Week 3, is a tight end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While he only secured two of three targets in Week 1, Otton caught all six of his targets for 41 yards in Week 2.

Looking ahead to Week 3, the Buccaneers will face the Philadelphia Eagles. Although the Eagles have a strong run defense, they have allowed the second-most passing yards and most passing touchdowns in the NFL so far. Additionally, they have given up the most catches, touchdowns, and fantasy points to tight ends.

In Week 2, the Eagles allowed Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson to total 66 yards and two touchdowns on seven catches. In Week 1, they surrendered eight catches for 92 yards and a score to New England Patriots tight ends. Based on these statistics, I believe Otton has a shot at gaining at least 50 receiving yards in Week 3.

If you’re playing in a league with at least 12 teams that requires starting a tight end, Otton is a recommended choice.
