Cristiano Ronaldo’s Penalty Save Lifts Manchester United to Hard-Fought Victory against Norwich

Manchester United’s interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, asserts that it is not part of his responsibilities to persuade Paul Pogba or any other player to remain at Old Trafford.

The future of the midfielder continues to be a subject of intense speculation, with his contract expiring next summer.

Rangnick disclosed that Pogba is expected to return from Dubai on Friday, where he underwent a warm-weather rehabilitation program to recover from a thigh injury sustained while playing for France in November.

Rangnick estimates that it will take another two weeks for Pogba to resume first-team training and an additional two weeks to reach the desired level of intensity to participate in Rangnick’s system at United.

Although Rangnick is looking forward to working with Pogba, he emphasizes that it is not his responsibility, nor the responsibility of anyone at the club, to convince players to stay at United.

“Players must have the desire to play and remain with the club,” stated the former RB Leipzig coach.

“For a prestigious club like Manchester United, if a player doesn’t have the desire to play for such a club, even in the long term, it doesn’t make sense to persuade them to change their mind.

“Pogba can be a crucial player, and I acknowledge that, but this applies to all the other players in the team as well.

“As the coach, my role extends beyond just managing Paul Pogba when he’s fully fit. I am also responsible for the development and improvement of all the other players, and that is only possible by enhancing the team’s overall performance,” Rangnick added.

Rangnick also conveyed his instructions to team doctor Steve McNally and the head of rehabilitation and physiotherapy Robin Sadler, expressing his preference for players to receive treatment within the club premises in the future.

The German manager is poised to introduce significant changes to the lineup following the draw with Young Boys in a Champions League dead rubber match on Wednesday.

This previous lineup saw 11 alterations from the team that faced and defeated Crystal Palace last Sunday in Rangnick’s inaugural official match in charge after the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
