Court Website Publishes List of Trump Charges, Later Removes Them

Yesterday, an intriguing development emerged in the long-running investigation into the 2020 US presidential election. A list of criminal charges against former President Donald Trump briefly appeared on the website of Fulton County in Georgia. However, it is important to note that Trump has not been indicted in this investigation.

According to Reuters, who was able to capture a copy of the document before it was taken down, the charges against Trump included state racketeering counts, conspiracy to commit false statements, and solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer. However, a spokesperson for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis stated that the report of charges being filed was “inaccurate.” Prosecutors were expected to present the charges to the grand jury, but it remains unclear why they were detailed in a filing while witnesses were still testifying.

The investigation led by Willis has been ongoing for two and a half years and focuses on the actions taken by Trump and others in an attempt to overturn his narrow loss to Joe Biden in Georgia. Former Democratic state Senator Jen Jordan and former state Representative Bee Nguyen have both testified before the grand jury, while Trump, in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, seemed to warn another potential witness against testifying.
