Concerns Persist Over Condition of Man United Legend Edwin Van der Sar

Ajax has provided an update on the condition of former Manchester United legend Edwin Van der Sar after he suffered a brain haemorrhage while on vacation in Croatia. The Dutch club stated that Van der Sar will remain in intensive care for the time being, as his condition is stable but still concerning. Annemarie Van der Sar, Edwin’s wife, asked Ajax to share this information and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received.

Van der Sar, 52, was airlifted to the hospital on Friday and is currently in a stable condition in the intensive care unit, according to a statement from Ajax. Manchester United also extended their best wishes to the goalkeeper, with the club expressing solidarity and hoping for his full and speedy recovery.

The former goalkeeper recently stepped down from his role as Ajax’s chief executive after seven years, citing exhaustion following a challenging season where the team finished third and failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in over a decade. Van der Sar, who played for Manchester United from 2005 to 2011, is highly regarded for his contributions to the club, winning the Champions League and four Premier League titles during his tenure.

Throughout his career, Van der Sar also represented Fulham, Juventus, and Ajax, accumulating over 700 appearances in total. The football community, including both fans and clubs, continues to show immense support for the Van der Sar family during this difficult time.
