Community Programs Awarded $17,000 to Bike LA

Celebrate the bicycling community in Los Angeles!

BikeLA has been awarded a generous grant of nearly $17,000 from the Southern California Association of Governments. This funding will support two exciting programs that aim to enhance bicycling experiences in Los Angeles and Glendale.

Thanks to the 2023 Go Human Community Hubs Grant Program, Bike Central LA and Walk Bike Glendale will be able to enhance their biking services and make a positive impact in their respective communities.

Bike Central LA, the newest chapter of Bike LA, plans to utilize the grant funds for a unique initiative called Operation Elephant. This program aims to distribute innovative digital bike horns to cyclists in areas with high injury rates, including East Hollywood, Westlake, downtown Los Angeles, and Koreatown.

With the allocated funds, Walk Bike Glendale will host a series of summer rides and workshops to educate cyclists in south Glendale about local riding conditions, accessibility, and opportunities to enhance safety.

Additionally, Walk Bike Glendale will conduct a survey among Glendale residents to gather input on advocacy priorities, and help connect people with important community events, commission meetings, and City Council discussions focused on street safety and planning.
