No action is needed.” The WEA test will send an emergency alert to all consumer cell phones between 2:20 and 2:50 p.m. The EAS test will last for 1 minute, with broadcasters and providers announcing: “This is a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, issued by FEMA, covering the United States from 2:20 to 2:50 p.m. ET. This is only a test. No action is required by the public.” The test message will be displayed in either English or Spanish, based on the device owner’s language preference. However, if severe weather or another significant event occurs, the tests will be postponed to Oct. 11.
