Cocaine Investigation Comes to an End, Secret Service Unable to Identify Culprit Say Lawmakers

The Secret Service has informed lawmakers that its investigation into the discovery of cocaine at the White House will be closed without identifying a suspect. During a routine security check, a bag of white powder was found in a cubby where belongings are stored. Despite efforts, the Secret Service was unable to determine who deposited the cocaine. Some Republicans criticized the agency, questioning their ability to find answers in similar situations involving President Biden and his administration. The investigation narrowed down the list of potential suspects to 500 individuals who had recently been in the building. However, critics argue that the failure to conduct drug tests on these individuals is a flaw in the investigation. Representative Raskin responded by pointing out the lack of coherence in the criticism coming from Republicans who oppose COVID-19 tests. The Secret Service, in an internal summary of the investigation, stated that no fingerprints or DNA evidence was found on the bag, which contained less than a gram of cocaine. As a result, it will be challenging to identify a specific person of interest among the hundreds of individuals who passed through the area where the cocaine was discovered. Senator Cotton expressed his frustration on Twitter, comparing the situation to how high schools are able to detect marijuana possession.
