Chie Filomeno Faces Online Criticism Over Her Body: Understand the Outrage

Body-shaming knows no boundaries, and actress Chie Filomeno experienced this firsthand as she consistently faced criticism for her appearance, particularly her slim body.

“I’m like one of those petite girls who constantly gets told to ‘eat more, do you even eat?'” Filomeno revealed in a recent interview with the support cast of “A Very Good Girl” on Sunday, September 24.

In the movie “A Very Good Girl,” where Kathry Bernardo and Dolly de Leon star, Filomeno portrays Zab, a blunt and manipulative girl who always gets what she wants.

During the mediacon for their movie promotion, Filomeno shared that she chooses not to let insensitive comments about her weight bother her, emphasizing the importance of feeling healthy both mentally and physically.

The actress also candidly admitted that she’s not always the epitome of sweetness and positivity towards her fans and critics, explaining that “we all have bad days.” She further stated, “We get hurt. We’re only human. We experience pain, we cry, and then we find reasons to laugh.”

But when she wakes up on the wrong side of the bed, her bashers can expect a fierce clapback from her.

“I speak up. I will silence you in a way that challenges the haters, the bashers. They only show bravery behind their keyboards. I won’t give them the satisfaction of treating me that way,” she explained. (I answer. I will shut you down in a way that makes the haters, the bashers think. They’re only brave behind their keyboards. I won’t let them belittle me.)

Filomeno has also faced accusations of not fully embracing her Filipina beauty after admitting to undergoing rhinoplasty to enhance her appearance. In response to her critics, she counters that it’s her own money she spends on her beauty procedures.

However, she vulnerably confessed that her family is her weakness, and it hurts her when her bashers attack her loved ones just to criticize her. Ultimately, she believes that the opinions of those closest to her are more important than those of strangers.

Filomeno is currently in a relationship with “The Iron Heart” actor Jake Cuenca and was once referred to as his TOTGA, or “the one that got away.” EDV
