Chick-fil-A Reaches Settlement for $4.4M Lawsuit on Unfair Delivery Pricing

Chick-fil-A, the beloved fast-food chain, recently found itself in hot water after customers alleged that they were deceived by its promise of a cheaper lunch for delivery orders. However, there is good news for those who feel duped, as Chick-fil-A has agreed to a $4.4 million settlement in federal court.

According to Top Class Actions, the lawsuit claimed that Chick-fil-A marketed its delivery service as a low-cost option but then increased prices on delivery products. As part of the settlement, Chick-fil-A will establish a $1.45 million cash fund and a $2.95 million gift card fund to compensate those affected by the price increases. It is important to note that Chick-fil-A does not admit to any wrongdoing in this matter.

The lawsuit, which was filed in federal court in Georgia, alleges that Chick-fil-A deceived customers by omitting, concealing, and misrepresenting material facts about its delivery service. To address these concerns, Chick-fil-A has agreed to include a disclosure notice on its app and website, informing customers that prices may be higher for delivery orders.

Furthermore, Chick-fil-A has agreed to notify potential class members of the settlement. To claim compensation, individuals will need to fill out a claim form, providing their name, email address, phone number, and certification of eligibility. Class members can choose between a cash payment of approximately $29.25 or a $29.25 gift card. It’s worth mentioning that the actual payment amount may be lower depending on the number of respondents.

The Washington Post has reached out to Chick-fil-A for a comment but has yet to receive a response.

In sum, Chick-fil-A has resolved this legal matter by agreeing to a substantial settlement. Customers who were affected by the alleged price increases on delivery orders can potentially receive cash or gift cards as compensation. With the inclusion of a disclosure notice and the commitment to notify class members, Chick-fil-A aims to provide transparency and rectify any perceived deception.
