The Foton Tornadoes will not be participating in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference and future tournaments. According to PVL president Ricky Palou, the decision was made because some of the players did not have their contracts renewed. Palou stated, “Foton has pulled out. I think they had too many players, so what they wanted to do was have them play for Foton. But their contracts are expiring at the end of the year or by this time they weren’t renewed, so Foton is really gone.”
While the departure of the team has raised questions, there has been no response yet from Foton team manager and Chery Tiggo coach Aaron Velez. However, it has been confirmed that players Shaya Adorador, Jasmine Nabor, Jaila Atienza, and Seth Rodriguez, who previously played for Foton in the Invitational Conference, have rejoined Chery Tiggo. Former Foton player BLove Barbon has already signed with Petro Gazz, which will now be coached by Timmy Sto. Tomas.
Additionally, PVL president Palou mentioned that the team Gerflor has also lost several players, with Alyssa Bertolano and Justine Dorog signing with Farm Fresh.
