Cher Opens Up About Her Youthful Look, Attributes It to ‘Pretty Amazing’ Genetics

Appearing on Good Morning Britain this Monday, the iconic singer and actress, Cher, expressed her disbelief at the fact that she will soon be turning 80. During the show, she also discussed her activism in saving the life of Kaavan, an elephant known as ‘the world’s loneliest elephant’, as well as her upcoming memoir.

When asked about her youthful appearance, Cher reminisced about a conversation she had with a friend about when they would stop conforming to societal expectations like cutting their hair and wearing jeans. She stated that she still can’t believe she will soon be 80 and that she plans on continuing to wear jeans and maintain her long hair. She believes that her remarkable genes play a role in her youthful energy and doesn’t know if feeling young actually makes a person younger.

Cher emphasized her ability to keep up with current trends and her diverse circle of friends, both young and old. She mentioned that she is not actively trying to feel or be young, but rather she is simply being herself and embracing her age.

On the topic of her memoir, Cher admitted that she has not yet finished writing it, attributing the delays to her jam-packed life and numerous experiences. She jokingly mentioned that she has lived for so long and done so much that it’s challenging to fit it all into one book.

Cher rose to fame in the 1960s as one half of the popular duo Sonny & Cher, and later achieved success as a solo artist as well. She also found success in the film industry, earning an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress in 1984 and winning the best actress Oscar in 1988 for her role in Moonstruck. Among her many roles, she appeared in the sequel to Mamma Mia! in 2008, titled Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

Regarding a possible third Mamma Mia! film, Cher revealed that her friend Judy has mentioned the idea, but she has not seen a script yet. Cher jokingly stated that she never knows what she’s going to do until she actually does it and expressed her belief that what is meant to be will come to her.

When asked if she would consider returning to the musical romantic comedy, Cher simply responded with a playful “Oh maybe.”

Don’t miss Cher’s appearance on Good Morning Britain weekdays from 6am on ITV1 & ITVX.
