“Individuals in the park began to commit acts of violence toward the police and the public,” stated Maddrey. He further mentioned that 65 individuals, including 30 juveniles, were arrested by the police.
Maddrey described incidents where fans attacked police officers, threw fireworks at each other, destroyed vendor stations, and disrupted the general public. According to The Washington Post, some fans even jumped onto parked cars near Union Square.
“They destroyed food carts. They destroyed stores,” explained Maddrey. “When we started clearing the young people out, young people ran through the streets of this city taking plates from people who were outside dining and were throwing their plates at police officers.”
Cenat has been charged with inciting a riot and unlawful assembly. According to TMZ, Cenat was issued a desk appearance ticket and released from the Manhattan police precinct on Friday.
Representatives for Cenat have not yet responded to Insider’s request for comment.
