Aug. 20 (UPI) — Sterling K. Brown, Mandy Moore, and Octavia Spencer were among the luminaries honoring the late actor Ron Cephas Jones, who passed away at the age of 66.
The renowned star of “This is Us” and “He Got Game,” who had undergone a double lung transplant, succumbed to a long-standing pulmonary issue that he had publicly shared since 2021.
“Today, life imitated art, and we bid farewell to one of the most remarkable individuals the world has ever seen. @cephasjaz, you are loved,” Brown expressed on Instagram Saturday.
“Your presence will be deeply missed. Continue to spread laughter in the next chapter of existence, and we shall reunite when the time comes.”
“Getting to know and work with Ron on the extraordinary journey of ‘This is Us’ was an immense privilege. He was a true magician as both a person and an artist… I will forever cherish all the moments,” Moore wrote on Instagram.
“Though he couldn’t be on set as frequently as we hoped, he was an integral part of the show’s fabric, as if he was always there. I will never forget how special it was to film this particular episode and welcome him back to bid a proper goodbye to our TIU family and the entire experience. I am profoundly saddened. My thoughts and love go out to Jasmine, his family, friends, and @cephasjaz.”
Octavia Spencer posted: “I’m heartbroken over the loss of my dear friend and colleague Ron Cephas Jones @cephasjaz. Ron was not only an incredibly talented actor but also a wonderfully kind human being. Every day on set with Ron was a blessing. Sending all my love to his daughter Jasmine, family, friends, and fans.”
“Update: This one hits really hard. I learned so much from Ron in every scene we shared. Seeing his name on the call sheet always brought excitement because I knew I would receive a year’s worth of technique in just an eight-hour day,” she added. “For those pursuing acting as a career, let Emmy Award Winner Ron Cephas Jones be your paragon of perfection. That man could dissect a scene. Jasmine clearly inherited his talent.”
Jones is also the father of Blindspotting star Jasmine Cephas Jones.
