Celebrate National Cinema Day with €4 Tickets for All Movies on Large Screens Nationwide

National Cinema Day is set to take place on Saturday, September 2, with participating cinemas offering discounted €4 tickets for all shows throughout the day. This year’s event, supported by Screen Ireland, also includes reduced prices for premium seats and 3D screenings.

Last year, National Cinema Day attracted over 200,000 admissions, making it the biggest cinema-going day of the year. Around 99% of cinemas in the country are expected to participate, offering a wide range of new and recent releases in every county.

The cinema industry in Ireland is coming together to celebrate the tradition of going to the movies and its importance in Irish life. Following the success of films like “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer,” the industry is excited to promote the magic of the big screen experience.

Ireland has the highest screen density per capita in Europe, with an average of one cinema screen for every 10,000 people. Irish director Lee Cronin expresses his love for the communal experience of enjoying films on the big screen and looks forward to celebrating National Cinema Day by watching as many movies as possible.

Director of Omniplex Cinemas, Mark Anderson, highlights the long-standing love for cinema in Irish society and expresses delight in participating in National Cinema Day by offering discounted tickets for all shows, including new releases.

Tickets can be purchased online through the websites of participating cinemas or at the box office. It is recommended to check local cinema listings for a comprehensive overview of what’s screening at each venue.

Some of the movies featured on National Cinema Day include Irish titles like “Ballywalter,” starring Patrick Kielty, and “Tarrac,” both offering special previews on September 2. Additionally, the Irish comedy “Apocalypse Clown” will open in cinemas during the National Cinema Day weekend.

Popular titles such as “Equalizer 3,” “The Blackening,” “Barbie,” “Oppenheimer,” “The Meg 2: The Trench,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,” “Strays,” and “Haunted Mansion” will continue to be screened on National Cinema Day.

Numerous cinemas are participating in the event, including Arc Cinemas, Carrick Cineplex, Century Cinemas, Cineworld, Eclipse Cinemas, Eye Cinema, Gate Cinemas, IFI Cinemas, IMC Cinemas, Odeon Cinemas, Omniplex Cinemas, and Vue Cinemas, among others.
