Police have determined that former US swimming star, Jamie Cail, died of accidental fentanyl poisoning in the US Virgin Islands. The 42-year-old, who was found unconscious in her St. John home on February 21, passed away from “fentanyl intoxication with aspiration of gastric content,” according to an autopsy report cited by NBC News. Fentanyl, an extremely potent opioid, is responsible for a growing number of overdose deaths. Cail, known for her talent and kind heart, was described as a “beautiful person” by WMUR.
