The controversy arose when event planners NVRLND asked a local bakery, Three Little Birds Bakery, to provide a large birthday cake, a smaller cake for Tyldesley’s husband, and 100 cupcakes free of charge, in exchange for promotion. However, Rebecca Severs, the owner of the bakery, declined the offer, stating that her staff cannot sustain themselves on exposure alone. Subsequently, the party, originally scheduled for September 1, has been called off due to the widespread backlash against Tyldesley for the cake request.
Tyldesley, reportedly blindsided by the turn of events, has chosen to have a quieter celebration instead. While she does not hold NVRLND accountable, the situation left a negative impression on her. NVRLND did not disclose who the birthday celebration was for when making the request to Severs, simply referring to the client as a well-known celebrity. Severs’ response to the PR generated substantial support from the public, appreciating her refusal to compromise her business’s value. Tyldesley later addressed the issue on Instagram, stating that she was unaware of NVRLND’s actions but hope the bakery received the exposure they desired. However, her response received criticism online.
