Sept. 1 (UPI) – A feline resident of a Home Depot store in New Jersey has catapulted to social media stardom, even bringing in new customers to the establishment.

Jeffrey Simpkins, the individual behind the viral TikTok videos of the cat named Leo, felt compelled to document his encounters with the cat after their first meeting at the Mount Laurel store last month.

“The first video I posted quickly gained 4.5 million views,” Simpkins told WTFX-TV. “Previously, I was happy if I received 1,000 views on any of my videos.”

Simpkins explained to WPVI-TV that Leo’s dedicated fanbase cherishes “his one-of-a-kind personality, his friendly disposition, his unique wardrobe, and the various places he chooses to rest.”

The store’s employees revealed that Leo was originally a barn cat brought to the store approximately a year ago to address a mouse infestation problem. The employees ensure Leo receives regular veterinary care and has a place to sleep during holidays when the store is closed.

Some customers specifically visit the store just to catch a glimpse of Leo. “It’s the last week of summer, so we thought, let’s go see the cat and make the most of it and potentially become members of his fan club,” shared Michelle Lythberg, a resident of Cherry Hill.
