Cardi B’s Blink-182 Callout Ignites Response from Passenger’s Stepson

  • Cardi B publicly criticized Brian Szasz, the stepson of a Titanic sub passenger, for attending a Blink-182 concert during the ongoing crisis.
  • Szasz fired back at Cardi B on Twitter, telling her to “show some class.”
  • Szasz defended his decision to attend the concert despite his stepfather being missing.

Brian Szasz, the self-identified stepson of a missing Titanic submersible passenger, responded to Cardi B’s criticism of his attendance at a Blink-182 concert amidst the crisis.

Szasz directly addressed Cardi B on Twitter, tagging her in a tweet and sharing a TMZ article about her video.

“What a disgraceful celebrity,” he wrote. “Cardi B is trying to gain attention at the expense of me and my family’s suffering. Instead of sitting at home and watching the news, I went to a Blink-182 concert to cope. Shame on you, Cardi. Show some class!”

In a follow-up tweet, Szasz criticized Cardi B’s recent releases as “garbage” and accused her of being “desperate for attention.”

The Titan submersible, operated by OceanGate Expeditions, lost communication with its mothership on Monday and has been missing since, with five passengers on board. One of those passengers is British billionaire Hamish Harding. In a tweet on Monday, Szasz identified himself as Harding’s stepson.

In a now-deleted Facebook post mentioned by the Daily Mail, TMZ, and Twitter account Pop Crave, Szasz mentioned that he was at the Blink-182 show in San Diego.

“Being here may seem inappropriate, but my family would want me to be at the Blink-182 show since they’re my favorite band and their music helps me during difficult times!” Szasz explained in the post.

In a video shared on her Instagram story, Cardi B expressed her disapproval of Szasz’s actions, stating that he should have stayed home instead of attending the concert.

“People are saying, ‘Well, what is he supposed to do? Sit at home and be sad? Should he go look for him himself?’ Yes,” Cardi B said in the video. “You should be at home, feeling sad. You should be crying for me. You should be right next to the phone, waiting for any updates about me. You should be consoling your mom and everything.”

The rapper also remarked on the sadness of being a billionaire who is “ignored” by others.

“You’re missing, and people are ready to enjoy themselves at concerts,” she said. “That’s insane. I’d rather be broke. I’d rather be poor, but knowing that I’m loved.”

Insider reached out to Szasz and a representative for Cardi B for comment, but they did not respond immediately.
