Aug. 10 (UPI) — After several days on the loose, a 4-foot lizard named Porkchop was safely returned to his owners in Minnesota. Cody Whitehead of Rochester, who had been the proud owner of the black and white Argentine tegu lizard for nine years, discovered that Porkchop had managed to escape from his outdoor enclosure last Friday. Fortunately, a member of the community spotted the lizard near Oakwood Cemetery and contacted Whitehead about it. Grateful for the safe return of his pet, Whitehead offered a $300 reward to the person who found Porkchop, but they declined. Reflecting on the incident, Whitehead plans to keep Porkchop indoors until he can come up with a more secure enclosure, as he never expected the lizard to be able to squeeze out of the hole in the previous one. “I’m gonna need to think of something new because I don’t want to go through this again,” Whitehead shared with KIMT-TV.
