Canelo Alvarez has rejected the idea of a catchweight fight with Terence Crawford, instead focusing on his upcoming super-middleweight title defense against Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas.

As the biggest star in boxing, Alvarez will put his super-middleweight crown on the line against Charlo, another undisputed world champion, on September 30.

Crawford’s impressive victory over Errol Spence Jr. last month solidified his status as the top welterweight and one of the pound-for-pound greats.

Following the fight, Crawford expressed openness to move up in weight to face Alvarez and suggested a catchweight of 160 or 158lbs. However, Alvarez stated that he would not go lower than 168lbs.
