California Senate Candidate Advocates for Economic Rejuvenation

According to Lexi Reese, “California is an incredible place in many ways,” but she acknowledges that the state’s economy is in disarray. As a tech executive, Reese believes she has the expertise to address this issue and has recently announced her candidacy for the seat being vacated by US Senator Dianne Feinstein. Despite her lack of political experience, Reese sees it as an advantage, stating that continuing with the same approach will not yield different results. She emphasized the need for improved outcomes in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, asserting that the battles fought by experienced politicians resemble “really bad reality TV fights” that offer no real help to Californian or American families.

Reese, 48, who has an extensive professional background working for prominent companies such as Google, Facebook, and American Express, is competing against well-known Democrats including Representatives Adam Schiff, Katie Porter, and Barbara Lee. According to Politico, early polls indicate Schiff and Porter as the frontrunners, with Lee falling behind. Reese has assembled a team of experienced strategists, including Celinda Lake, who served as President Biden’s pollster in 2020. She criticizes the high cost of living, homelessness, and crime rates in California, describing it as an increasingly unlivable state. Based on her experiences in supporting small businesses and nonprofits, as well as witnessing her family’s struggles after her father lost his job to automation, Reese believes she has the perspective needed to bring about change and create pathways towards inclusive and shared prosperity.
