Many Pixel 8 Pro users have observed circular bumps on the screen, resulting from the pressure on the underside of the 6.7-inch OLED panel. Soft and fragile, the underside suffers from these circular indents, likely caused by pressing against an uneven surface the display rests on.
No damage appears to the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 cover glass. Yet, there’s a possibility that uneven surface impacting the display’s positioning, or components pressing on its underside due to the manufacturing process, could be the cause for these bumps. Although the current status doesn’t affect touchscreen functionality or image quality, some express concern that the issue may worsen over time, causing damage to the screen.
The recurring bumps, as seen in several images shared to a community thread, appear consistently on the top edge, with two mounds near the front-facing camera, and others near the left and right perimeter. While there have been dozens of similar reports, it remains unclear if this is pervasive. However, despite reaching out to Google for a replacement, issues persist with RMA devices.
There are dozens of reports, and some Pixel 8 Pro owners have already contacted Google for a replacement, as they have noticed the same issue on subsequent devices. Notably, there are calls for an extended warranty in case the problem worsens.
