I hope I can pass the great Jerry Rice and his record. Obviously, nobody will pass his records, probably like ever, total. But that 1,000-yard streak would be cool to have.”
Additionally, Rice holds the record for the most 1,000-yard seasons in a career, with 14. Evans, however, prioritizes his team’s success over individual achievements. He believes he should surpass the 1,000-yard mark every year if he remains healthy, but his ultimate goal is to contribute to his team’s victories.
Evans will be playing without Tom Brady as his quarterback for the first time since 2019, as the seven-time Super Bowl champion retired in February. The Buccaneers will have Baker Mayfield, the first-overall pick in 2018, and Kyle Trask, a second-round pick in 2021, competing for the starting quarterback position in training camp.
Mayfield recently signed a one-year deal with Tampa Bay after a season split between the Carolina Panthers and the Los Angeles Rams. Throughout the offseason, Mayfield made it clear that he understands the magnitude of Brady’s accomplishments and does not intend to emulate him.
