Britney Spears and Sam Asghari to End Marriage, Singer Secures Prominent Legal Representation

Britney Spears and her husband, Sam Asghari, have officially separated after being married for 14 months. According to Variety, Spears has enlisted the help of a team of top-notch Hollywood lawyers in preparation for her impending divorce.

Leading the legal team is Laura Wasser, a renowned divorce lawyer who has represented numerous celebrities. Additionally, Mathew Rosengart, a former federal prosecutor who successfully fought for Spears’ release from her conservatorship, will continue to support her. Despite Variety‘s request for comment, neither Wasser nor Rosengart have responded.

There has been no official statement from Asghari’s representative regarding the separation.

Asghari, known for his work as a trainer, model, and actor, proposed to Spears in September 2021, and the couple tied the knot in June 2022. They had been dating for over five years after meeting on the set of Spears’ music video for “Slumber Party.” However, Asghari’s representative did not provide a comment on the separation.

At the time of their engagement, Spears was still under a conservatorship. However, Rosengart’s successful legal efforts led to the suspension of her father’s control, paving the way for the termination of the conservatorship.

During her court testimony in June 2021, Spears expressed her desire to marry Asghari and have more children. However, she alleged that she was not permitted to do so under the conservatorship, where her father had control over her finances and personal life. A lawyer explained that, technically, she could not sign a marriage license while under the conservatorship.

In December 2021, after the termination of the conservatorship, Spears was granted the power to sign legal documents independently. This included the ability to sign a marriage license, leading to their wedding approximately six months later.

The couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at Spears’ home in Thousand Oaks, Calif., with notable attendees such as Madonna, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, and Paris Hilton. However, her father, mother, and sister were not present.

This marriage was Spears’ third, and the couple does not have any children together. In April 2022, before their wedding, Spears announced her pregnancy, but unfortunately, she later revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage.

Spears has worked with Wasser in the past when dealing with custody issues involving her two sons from her second marriage to Kevin Federline. Wasser, known for representing A-list clients in high-profile divorces, has a history of working with Spears.

In terms of her professional life, Spears has released two songs since the termination of her conservatorship: “Hold Me Closer,” a collaboration with Elton John, and “Mind Your Business,” a track with will.i.am. Additionally, she has a highly-anticipated memoir scheduled for release in October, following a multi-million dollar book deal.

Neither Spears nor Asghari has made any statements regarding their separation.
