Britney Shares Her Surprise on Divorce: ‘I’m a Bit Taken Aback’

Britney Spears has finally addressed her unexpected divorce from Sam Asghari, her husband of 14 months. In an Instagram video, the singer can be seen dancing to Janet Jackson’s “If” while revealing her split. Speaking about the breakup, she stated, “Six years is a long time to be with someone, so I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because it’s honestly nobody’s business.” However, she did provide some insight, admitting, “I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly.” Britney also touched on her tendency to hide her emotions, saying, “I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but for some reason, I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses.”

In a heartfelt message, Britney wrote, “I’ve been playing it strong for way too long, and my Instagram may seem perfect, but it’s far from reality, and I think we all know that.” She emphasized the importance of being loved unconditionally and spoke about her determination to stay strong. As for Sam Asghari, he filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” and rumors of Britney cheating with a staff member at her home. While seeking spousal support and attorneys’ fees, Asghari expressed his love and respect for Britney. “I wish her the best always,” he said.
