Brian Cox Shines in Style at BFI Southbank, Marking 50 Years on Screen Post COVID-19 Recovery

Brian Cox Celebrates 50 Years on Screen at BFI Southbank After Beating Coronavirus

Actor Brian Cox, 77, showcased his impeccable style as he commemorated his 50-year career on screen at BFI Southbank in London on Tuesday. In a captivating conversation with Mark Kermode, Cox delved into the highlights and challenges of his lengthy career, marking his return after recovering from a bout of coronavirus.

Just last week, Cox was unfortunately unable to attend the March and Rally for an Independent Scotland in the EU event in Edinburgh, where he had been scheduled to deliver a speech. This cancellation came as a result of his positive COVID-19 test. However, fortune was on his side as he regained his health just in time to join the event celebrating “Brian Cox: 50 Years on Screen,” which featured a screening of the film “Manhunter,” in which he portrayed the iconic character Hannibal Lecter.

For the occasion, Cox donned a dapper ensemble consisting of a blue blazer paired with a paisley print shirt and beige chino trousers.

During his speech, Cox expressed his admiration for director Michael Mann, proclaiming their strong rapport and referring to him as an “extraordinary visionary.”

The disappointment of missing the Scotland rally was echoed by Cox himself, as he stated, “I am absolutely gutted to have to miss the Believe in Scotland rally which seems to be building into a pivotal moment for the independence movement… I was looking forward tremendously to joining the grassroots independence organisers and supporters and an inspiring list of speakers on Saturday for this positive celebration of the independence movement. I would very much like to attend the Believe in Scotland March and Rally planned for early next year so I will work with the organisers to fit that into my schedule.”

While unable to attend, Cox has generously offered to record an Independence video once he has fully recovered from coronavirus. This offer comes amidst concerns over the spread of the mutated COVID variant Perola across the UK.

Gordon MacIntyre-Kemp, founder of Believe in Scotland, expressed his well-wishes for Cox’s rapid recovery, emphasizing the loss of his star presence and genuine integrity in the fight for Scottish independence. MacIntyre-Kemp added, “Brian has also offered to record a video for our supporters when he is fully recovered, so we will hear from him soon.”

In addition to his recent endeavors, Cox is set to grace the Cheltenham Literature Festival, joining other notable figures as they lend their voices to contemporary authors in fiction. The festival, taking place in Gloucestershire, offers an array of ticketed events, free family activities, and fringe events.
