BMW Group, the renowned German luxury vehicle manufacturer, has announced a remarkable 10% increase in car sales in India during the first nine months of 2023. With a total of 9,580 units sold, the company is on track to achieve record-breaking sales for the year. Notably, all three brands under the BMW Group – BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad (two-wheeler) – have achieved their best-ever January-September sales period in India.

The BMW brand itself has recorded sales of 8,998 units in the first nine months of the year, reflecting a 10% growth compared to the same period last year. The MINI brand has also witnessed encouraging sales, with 582 units sold, marking a growth rate of 10%.

Additionally, the group’s premium motorcycle brand, BMW Motorrad, has witnessed significant growth, with sales of 6,778 units during the January-September period, reflecting a substantial 26% increase compared to the previous year.

Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India, expressed his optimism about the company’s performance, stating, “After achieving the best-ever first half in our history, the third quarter has been even more promising. We are confident in our growth prospects, especially with the festive season underway and our supply chain returning to normal.”

Pawah further shared that BMW Group has set a new sales record in the first half of 2023, delivering 5,867 cars in India, representing a 5% YoY increase. In addition, the company has witnessed over 50% growth in sales of its premium motorcycles under the BMW Motorrad brand, selling 4,667 units.

When asked about the outlook for 2023, Pawah expressed his confidence, stating, “We expect this year to be another record-breaking year, building upon our strong start. Demand is robust, and we anticipate solid double-digit growth by the end of this year.”

In 2022, BMW Group achieved remarkable sales in India, with a total of 19,263 units sold. Both BMW and MINI car brands exhibited impressive growth, with 35% growth and 11,981 units sold. The company’s motorcycle arm, BMW Motorrad, also achieved its best-ever motorcycle deliveries, with 7,282 units sold, reflecting a 40% growth.

Pawah also highlighted the success of BMW’s electric vehicles, with cumulative sales of 1,000 units since the company commenced deliveries last year. He confidently asserted, “We are on track to deliver a total of 1,000 electric cars within 2023 itself.” During the January-September 2023 period, BMW Group witnessed a five-fold increase in electric vehicle deliveries compared to the same period in 2022.
