Breaking News: X Experiences Major Crash Hours After Elon Musk’s Monetization Plan Reveal

In a surprising turn of events, the site experienced technical issues shortly after Elon Musk’s announcement that he intends to introduce a paid subscription model for all users.

While certain parts of X loaded normally for some individuals, many users encountered difficulties accessing features such as tweets and their timelines.

Down Detector, a website that monitors service outages, recorded a significant surge in reports of problems worldwide on the previous day.

Since the site depends on reports from X, it is possible that it experienced issues due to the disruption on the platform.

During a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Musk justified the implementation of a subscription fee as a means to counter the infiltration of “vast armies of bots” on the service.

He further explained, “We’re actually going to come up with a lower-tier pricing… we just want it to be a small amount of money. This is a longer discussion, but, in my view, this is actually the only defense against vast armies of bots.”

Ever since assuming control of the platform previously known as Twitter, Musk has been vocal about his goal to generate additional revenue for X through new income streams, including subscription-based models.

When introducing X Premium (formerly Twitter Blue), Musk moved certain features that were previously free behind a paywall, aiming to encourage more users to upgrade to the premium version of the site.

The decline in X’s advertising revenue, caused by concerns over Musk’s support for unrestricted free speech and less stringent content moderation, has necessitated the exploration of alternative sources of income.

As a result, several advertisers have scaled back or completely stopped their advertising campaigns on the platform.

Musk has previously stated that various advocacy groups have falsely accused him and X of promoting antisemitism, leading to significant financial losses due to advertising boycotts.

In his conversation with Netanyahu, the Israeli leader acknowledged Musk’s commitment to combating antisemitism after the billionaire reiterated his stance against hate speech.

Furthermore, it has been reported by Reuters that Musk’s SpaceX has filed a lawsuit against the US government, alleging that the government’s case accusing the company of employment discrimination against refugees and asylum-seekers violates the US constitution.

In their lawsuit, filed in a Texas federal court, SpaceX argues that the administrative judges at the US Department of Justice (DoJ) who handle cases involving bias against immigrant employees do not hold proper appointments, and that keeping the case out of court denies the company its constitutional right to a trial by jury.

At the time of writing, the DoJ has not responded to requests for comment.

According to the DoJ’s complaint filed last month, SpaceX allegedly rejected job applicants who were not United States citizens or Green Card holders, citing federal export control laws as the reason for their exclusion—an argument the DoJ contests.
