Breaking News: Urgent Update on Arrest of Suspect in Tragic Hit-and-Run Accident

The suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 42-year-old woman in Jurupa Valley has been apprehended.

The incident, which involved a vehicle and a pedestrian, took place on Wednesday at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of Mission Boulevard near Crestmore Road, as reported by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim, identified as Jamie Pruitt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sgt. Ronald Smith stated that Pruitt was walking on Mission Boulevard when she was struck by a white 2012 Toyota Corolla. It remains unclear whether she was crossing the road or walking within one of the lanes.

The driver immediately fled the scene, according to deputies.

On Friday, authorities executed a search warrant at a location on Armstrong Road in Jurupa Valley. The involved vehicle was located and impounded as a result.

The search warrant also yielded information regarding the identity of the driver at the time of the crash.

The suspect, Jose Manuel Aguilar-Acosta, 23, turned himself in on Saturday and was subsequently arrested.

Erika Guevara, 24, who was with Aguilar-Acosta at the time, was also arrested.

Aguilar-Acosta has been booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of a collision resulting in death. Guevara has also been booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center, on suspicion of being an accessory to the crime.
