“The Sandlot” star Marty York’s mother, Del Norte County Sheriff Deputy Deanna Esmaeel, was tragically discovered deceased at her residence on North Bank Road in Crescent City, California, on Thursday morning. The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office announced her death on Facebook the following Friday.

The investigation into Esmaeel’s passing is being treated as a homicide, and authorities issued an alert to locate the suspect, identified as her boyfriend, Daniel James Walter. Walter legally changed his name to Edward Patrick Davies. However, the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Friday evening that the suspect is now in custody.

Marty York confirmed the tragic news of his mother’s death in an emotional statement posted on Instagram.

“Writing this post is the most difficult thing I will ever have to do. Last night, I learned from the sheriff’s department that my mother was murdered by a man she was seeing,” wrote the 43-year-old actor, alongside a photo of himself, Esmaeel, and the Del Norte County Sheriff’s department’s wanted flyer.

In another heartbreaking Facebook post, York uploaded a photo of himself with his mother and wrote, “Mom, please come back,” accompanied by a series of crying emojis.
