Breaking News: Taylor Tomlinson Takes the Spotlight as Host of CBS’ ‘After Midnight’ Show!

CBS has chosen Taylor Tomlinson, a popular stand-up comedian, to host their new late-night show “After Midnight.” The series, which is executive produced by Stephen Colbert, was announced during Wednesday’s episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Tomlinson joined Colbert on stage to discuss the exciting news.

Tomlinson has gained recognition for her Netflix comedy specials, “Look At You” and “Quarter Life Crisis.”

Scheduled to launch in early 2024 in the time slot previously occupied by “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” “After Midnight” is based on the hit panel series “@midnight,” which aired from 2013 to 2017. The show featured guest comedians interacting with host Chris Hardwick, following the success of “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report.”

This year, Tomlinson signed a deal with Netflix for her next two stand-up specials. Her latest special, filmed in Washington, D.C., is set to premiere in 2024.

In 2020, Tomlinson’s popularity soared with the release of “Quarter-Life Crisis” on Netflix, just before the pandemic hit. Additionally, she is currently working on a film about her upbringing, which she is co-writing with Taylor Tetreau. The movie, directed by Paul Weitz, will also feature Tomlinson in the lead role.

The showrunners and executive producers for “After Midnight” are Jack Martin, who worked on all four seasons of “@midnight,” and Eric Pierce. Comedian and writer Jo Firestone will serve as co-executive producer and head writer, while Alexx Wells will be a co-executive producer.

The executive producers for the series include Stephen Colbert, Carrie Byalick (president of Spartina Industries), Tom Purcell (an executive producer at “The Late Show”), Evelyn McGee Colbert, and James Dixon of Dixon Talent. The production team at Spartina Industries is joined by Joe Farrell, Mike Farah, Whitney Hodack, and Henry R. Muñoz III from Funny Or Die as executive producers. Jason U. Nadler, co-creator of “@midnight,” is also an executive producer.
