Breaking News: Suspect Arrested in String of Alleged Sexual Assaults on Minors

A disturbing case has emerged in Glendale, where a man who held positions at an elementary school, an after-school program, and a summer day camp has been charged with lewd acts involving multiple young boys.

The accused, Pedro Antonio Tellez, 29, pleaded not guilty to eight felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Investigators allege that Tellez, who worked as an aide for disabled students in Glendale elementary schools, engaged in inappropriate and sexually motivated touching of the boys between 2018 and 2023, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Tellez has been placed on administrative leave from his hourly positions at the elementary school, the One Glendale After School Youth Sports Program, and the Summer Day Camp Program, said Glendale Police Department Sgt. Victor Jackson. Tellez had been working in these positions since March.

According to Jackson, two parents reported separate incidents in which their children were touched inappropriately by Tellez at John Muir Elementary School. During the preliminary investigation, detectives discovered evidence suggesting that there may be additional victims stretching back five years.

The District Attorney’s Office revealed that more potential victims have come forward and are currently being interviewed. They urge any other individuals who may have experienced similar misconduct to contact the Glendale Police Department at 818-548-4840 and ask for the Assaults Bureau.

District Attorney George Gascón expressed his dismay in a statement, saying, “It’s heartbreaking and deeply disturbing when someone entrusted with such a role, and especially someone acting as a guardian to such a vulnerable group of children, chooses to violate the sacred trust that exists between educators, students, and their families. We will not tolerate such despicable acts within our community.”

Tellez has been in custody since his arrest by Glendale police on Tuesday, according to jail records.

He is scheduled to appear in a Pasadena courtroom on October 19th for a hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence to proceed with a trial.
