A man was shot and killed by a Riverside County deputy during an incident in San Jacinto on Tuesday. The shooting occurred at approximately 3:22 p.m. after deputies responded to a report of an armed man at a business on South San Jacinto Avenue.
Upon arrival, deputies spotted a man matching the suspect’s description riding a bicycle north on San Jacinto Avenue. They followed him to the back of a nearby business and instructed him to dismount from his bicycle. It was at this moment that the man allegedly brandished a handgun, leading to the deputy firing their weapon. Tragically, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Fortunately, no deputies were harmed during the incident. As per department protocol, the deputy involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave. For now, their identity will remain confidential. The Riverside County District Attorney’s office will conduct an investigation into the shooting.
