Reality TV star Shannon Beador from “The Real Housewives of Orange County” was arrested over the weekend for drunk driving and a misdemeanor hit-and-run, as confirmed by the police.
According to the Newport Beach police, Beador, aged 59, was taken into custody just after 1 a.m. P.T. on Sunday. She was later released.
The police spokesperson refrained from commenting on the case details and any potential injuries. The arrest report was also not made available.
In a statement on Monday, Beador’s attorney Michael Fell expressed that Beador deeply regrets her actions and is ready to accept full responsibility. He further mentioned that they are awaiting official information on the case.
Representatives for Bravo, the television network that airs the show, were unavailable for immediate comment on Monday.
Bravo is a subsidiary of NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News.
Under California law, misdemeanors can lead to a punishment of up to six months in county jail and a fine of $1,000.
This incident brings to mind a recent storyline on “Real Housewives of Orange County” involving Beador and her castmate Gina Kirschenheiter. They had a heated argument regarding Beador’s assertion that she saved Kirschenheiter’s children from being placed in Child Protective Services after Kirschenheiter’s DUI arrest in 2019. Beador denied making the claim, but a flashback during an episode contradicted her statement.
