Breaking News: Latest Gas Price Surge Hits LA County – Reaches New Heights Since November 16th

In Los Angeles County, the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline has continued to rise, reaching its highest point since November 16. It has increased for 42 out of the past 47 days, with a 1.4 cent increase on Friday. Over the past 47 days, the average price has gone up by 48.3 cents, including a 1.1 cent increase on Thursday. The price rose for 30 consecutive days, experienced a slight drop, and then rose again. Last Friday, it remained unchanged before rising for six out of the past seven days.

Compared to one week ago, the average price is now 8.3 cents higher. It is also 29.3 cents higher than one month ago and 11.3 cents higher than the previous year. However, it has dropped by $1.039 since reaching a record high of $6.494 on October 5.

In Orange County, the average price of gas has also been increasing. It rose for the 40th time in 46 days, reaching its highest point since November 12. Over the past 46 days, it has gone up by 50.9 cents, including a nine-tenths of a cent increase on Thursday.

Compared to one week ago, the average price in Orange County is now 9.4 cents higher. It is also 30.6 cents higher than one month ago and 12 cents higher than the previous year. Similar to Los Angeles County, it has also dropped significantly since reaching a record high of $6.459 on October 5.

According to Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, there have been unplanned refinery flaring incidents in Southern California, which may be affecting gasoline production. Additionally, oil prices have spiked in the past week due to continued OPEC production cuts.

Nationally, the average gas price has also seen some fluctuations. After a period of six decreases in seven days, totaling 2.4 cents, the price rose slightly by half a cent. It is now 1 cent less than one week ago and 1.6 cents lower than one month ago. However, it is 5.7 cents higher than the previous year. Since reaching a record high of $5.016 on June 14, 2022, the national average price has dropped by $1.208.
