Breaking News: DC Police Increases Reward for Capturing Escaped Murder Suspect – Act Now!

Police in Washington, DC, have increased the reward for a murder suspect to $30,000 just a week after he escaped from George Washington University Hospital. Christopher Haynes, a 30-year-old man, had been arrested by a fugitive task force last Wednesday in connection with a double shooting, but managed to escape the same day, according to NBC Washington. Authorities say Haynes was taken to the hospital due to an ankle injury. While at the hospital’s emergency department, two officers were in the process of handcuffing Haynes to a bed when he made a quick escape, said Acting DC Police Chief Pamela Smith.

“Typically, when officers transport a suspect or arrestee to the hospital, we remove the handcuffs,” explained Smith, as reported by Fox 5 DC. “The arrestee will then be handcuffed to the gurney or bed. However, in Haynes’ case, after his handcuffs were taken off, he aggressively moved away from the officer and fled the scene.” Despite the officers’ efforts to chase him down, they were unable to capture Haynes. The police department has now launched an internal investigation into the incident.

Haynes had originally been arrested for his involvement in a shooting on August 12 that resulted in the death of 33-year-old Brent Hayward and inflicted life-threatening injuries on another man, according to the police. WUSA9 reports that Hayward’s family has been under police protection since the escape. The authorities have described Haynes as a 6-foot, 205-pound African American man with shoulder-length dreadlocks and a Washington Nationals curly W tattoo on his throat. He may still be wearing a handcuff on his right wrist. (In a separate case, another fugitive, Danelo Cavalcante, who was wanted for murder, was captured in Pennsylvania after almost two weeks on the run.)
