Breaking News: Chery Plans to Launch Three Trendsetting SUV Brands in Europe by 2025!

Chery Automobile: Launching New Models in Europe

Chery Automobile, a Chinese-based automaker, has ambitious plans to sell its vehicles in Europe. The company aims to introduce new models from its Omoda, Jaecoo, and Exlantix subsidiaries on the continent by the end of 2025.

The Omoda 5, a crossover vehicle, is set to be launched in Spain later this year. Following its success in the UK in early 2024, it will also be made available for sale in Germany from April 2024. Chery plans to cater to different regions’ needs by offering combustion, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles.

When the Omoda 5 arrives in the UK, it will come in three different versions. The electric vehicle (EV) is expected to have a power output of 198 horsepower and a range of 280 miles on a single charge of its 64-kilowatt-hour battery, based on the European WLTP cycle.

In Spain, Chery will focus on selling the combustion-powered version of the Omoda 5, while in Germany, both the gas and electric models will be available. The pricing for the Omoda 5 is expected to start around 30,000 euros ($31,438 at today’s exchange rate), making it a competitive option in the market.

The Omoda 5 that will be available in the UK market will feature Android Audio and Apple CarPlay as standard. It will also be equipped with two 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment and driver’s displays. Luxuries such as ventilated seats, adaptive cruise control, and other modern amenities will also be included.

Chery has plans to introduce its all-electric brand, Exlantix, in Europe by early 2025. Earlier this year, the automaker showcased the E03 sedan and E0Y SUV from Exlantix. It will be interesting to see how these new brands and models will fare in Europe’s competitive market as Chery’s endeavors extend beyond just selling cars.

Additionally, Chery is considering acquiring or establishing an assembly plant in Europe, with an emphasis on local production. A decision could be made as soon as next year, although the timeline for starting vehicle production remains unclear. It may take up to a year for Chery to determine the best approach for entering the European market.
