Breaking Boundaries: Warner Music Inks Historic Record Deal with Groundbreaking AI Pop Star

Warner Music is in hot water after facing backlash for their latest artist, an AI-generated pop star named Noonoouri, who has been criticized for her sexualized appearance. Noonoouri made history as the first AI musician signed by a record label, with her debut single “Dominoes” released on September 1. The accompanying music video features Noonoouri, sporting blue hair, dancing in a bikini from Kim Kardashian’s Skims collection.

Noonoouri was created in 2018 by German graphic designer Joerg Zuber as a 19-year-old metaverse avatar. She has since become a virtual influencer, starring in campaigns for fashion houses like Dior, Balenciaga, and Valentino. She has also appeared in notable fashion magazines such as Elle, Vogue, and Harper’s Bazaar, after signing with IMG Models Worldwide.

The song “Dominoes” is centered around the theme of the interconnectedness of the world and the impact of our actions. The vocals are entirely AI-generated, created by two male music veterans, Leonardo Martinelli and Rafa Caivano, according to the song’s credits on YouTube. While the artists will receive royalties from the song, the video has garnered backlash from social media users, reaching almost 75,000 views since its release.

Critics on social media have expressed outrage over Noonoouri’s portrayal as a child-like figure dancing provocatively in revealing clothing. One commenter raised concerns about the video’s imagery, questioning why there was a half-naked CGI child present. Another user described Noonoouri as creepy and tacky, expressing their dislike for her. The video was even accused of combining the sexualization of children with terrible music.

Representatives from Warner Music have yet to provide a response to the controversy surrounding Noonoouri. According to Zuber, Noonoouri is a combination of fashion model Naomi Campbell and social media icon Kim Kardashian.

On Noonoouri’s Instagram post, where she announced the release of her single to her over 400,000 followers, one commenter questioned the presence of a half-naked CGI child. Twitter users echoed similar sentiments, expressing their disgust towards Warner Music for promoting AI-created scantily clad underage characters.

Critics resorted to name-calling and mockery, comparing Noonoouri’s appearance to a boss baby’s head on a womanly body. Some even predicted that Warner’s collaboration with the AI singer would mark the downfall of real music, expressing concern for genuine singers and musicians in the industry.
