Brad Pitt gears up for filming thrilling F1 blockbuster at the British Grand Prix

The Hollywood star, Brad Pitt, and his co-star, Damson Idris, made quite the impression at the Northamptonshire circuit on Sunday. Donning white and black racing suits, they represented the fictional APXGP team as they mingled with real F1 drivers on the grid. This unique opportunity was made possible because Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion and co-producer on the upcoming Apple film, has collaborated with F1, granting the project special access to race tracks and drivers.

After their time on the track at Silverstone, Pitt, an Oscar-winning actor, sat down for an interview with Sky Sports presenter and former F1 driver, Martin Brundle. Pitt described the experience as “giddy” and expressed his joy at being there, saying, “We’re just having such a laugh, time of my life.”

During the interview, Pitt shared more details about the film. He revealed that his character was an F1 driver in the 1990s but had to switch to other racing disciplines after a devastating crash. Javier Bardem plays his friend and team owner, who calls him back to the sport to help out their struggling team, which currently ranks at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Pitt emphasized the authenticity of the film, mentioning that they have employed F1 experts to ensure accuracy, treating the production as if it were the real deal. He praised Lewis Hamilton, who is not only a producer but also a well-respected figure in the F1 world, for his determination to showcase the sport accurately. Pitt admitted his newfound appreciation for F1 drivers as athletes, acknowledging their skill, aggression, and dexterity.

In preparation for the film, Pitt has been training in Formula Two machinery for the past two months, starting at the Paul Ricard Circuit in France and then moving to Silverstone. Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on “Top Gun: Maverick,” will direct the film, with Hamilton serving as a co-producer alongside Plan B Entertainment and Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

The British Grand Prix saw the attendance of several notable celebrities, including Colombian pop star Shakira, One Direction singer Liam Payne, and Eurovision star Sam Ryder. Actress Florence Pugh showed her support for the drivers, while former Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond described the day as “fantastic.” Actor-turned-singer Damian Lewis performed the national anthem, and Rudimental entertained at the Red Bull Pole Position area.

On the race front, Max Verstappen secured his sixth consecutive victory, while Lando Norris put up a strong fight against Lewis Hamilton, finishing in second place and keeping Hamilton in third.
