Box Cutter Discovered in Michigan Woman’s McDonald’s Happy Meal

  • A Michigan woman made a disturbing discovery in her daughter’s McDonald’s Happy Meal.
  • Dawn Paret reported finding a box cutter and pen instead of the expected toy.
  • Paret expressed concern for her children’s safety, fearing they could have been injured by the box cutter.

A Michigan woman made a disturbing discovery in her child’s McDonald’s Happy Meal, and she was far from happy about it.

In a Facebook post on June 10, Dawn Paret revealed that instead of finding a toy in one of her daughters’ Happy Meal boxes, she came across a box cutter and a pen.

“You hear of things like this, but never did I think it would actually happen,” she wrote, expressing concern that her children could have been injured if they had found the items first.

Paret included a photo in her post, showing herself holding a gray Bic ballpoint pen and a bright yellow Crewsafe utility knife.

“McDonald’s, I demand an explanation as to how and why a box cutter ended up in the bottom of our daughter’s Happy Meal. Simply brushing it off as an accident is not an acceptable answer,” she continued.

Facebook users advised Paret to seek legal counsel before contacting McDonald’s regarding this incident.

“Call the company. Record your conversation. See what they say and immediately consult with a lawyer,” one user suggested.

“OMG! I hope you bring this to the attention of corporate. This is completely unacceptable! The potential consequences are extremely scary!!!” commented another user.

Just a month prior to Paret’s unsettling discovery, another Michigan woman claimed to have found an identical box cutter in her child’s Happy Meal box.

“This incident occurred on Saturday when I went through the McDonald’s drive-thru off Grand River and Challis Road in Brighton,” wrote the woman, Kayla Almashy, in a May 22 Facebook post.

“I want to alert other parents to check their Happy Meal boxes because my daughter handed me a box cutter that was in her Happy Meal box, thinking it was a toy!!!” she added.

Online commenters were also outraged, with one Facebook user suggesting that the box cutter may have been intentionally placed there: “OMG! That is not a mistake. Why would someone do that? People are sick,” the user commented.

Insider has reached out to McDonald’s, Paret, and Almashy for comment, but they have not responded at this time.
