Oct. 3 (UPI) — Tyler Boyd and Matthew Stafford dominate my fantasy football waiver wire targets for Week 5 of the 2023 season.

Other players like Jimmy Garoppolo, Jaylen Warren, Chuba Hubbard, Romeo Doubs, and the Washington Commanders defense/special teams should also be considered.

Teams on bye for Week 5 include the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It’s suggested to bench or drop players from these teams.

My waiver wire targets have an ownership percentage of 60% or less. Let’s dive into the top players to add and drop for Week 5:

ALL-ADD TEAM

QB | Matthew Stafford
RB | Jaylen Warren, Chuba Hubbard
WR | Tyler Boyd, Romeo Doubs
TE | Jonnu Smith
D/ST | Washington Commanders
K | Riley Patterson

HONORABLE MENTIONS

QB | Jimmy Garoppolo
RB | Latavius Murray, Ezekiel Elliott
WR | Jameson Williams, Braxton Berrios
TE | Dalton Schultz
D/ST | Detroit Lions
K | Wil Lutz

TOP DROPS

QB | Kenny Pickett
RB | Kendre Miller
WR | Kendrick Bourne
TE | Juwan Johnson
D/ST | Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers
K | Dustin Hopkins

QUARTERBACK

Matthew Stafford, who was also mentioned as a waiver wire target last week, had a strong performance in Week 4 with 319 passing yards and a touchdown. He has thrown for over 300 yards in three of his four starts this season.

In Week 5, Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams will face the Philadelphia Eagles, who have struggled against the pass. Stafford is a great streaming option and can also be used in Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals.

RUNNING BACK

While it’s not the best week to find running backs on the waiver wire, it’s still advisable to add one for depth. Jaylen Warren and Chuba Hubbard, who currently have backup roles, are the top targets for Week 5.

Warren’s workload has consistently increased each week this season, and he could eventually become a starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hubbard, although in a split role with Miles Sanders, has seen increased usage and should be added for Sanders stock owners.

WIDE RECEIVER

Tyler Boyd is expected to receive more opportunities in Week 5 due to the rib injury sustained by Tee Higgins. As Joe Burrow’s potential No. 2 target, he should be considered for fantasy lineups. Romeo Doubs has also seen an uptick in targets and could be a solid WR3 option in Week 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

TIGHT END

Jonnu Smith has outperformed Kyle Pitts as the top tight end for the Atlanta Falcons. With consistent usage and recent production, Smith is worth starting in Week 5 for those in need of a tight end.
