Bloomberg News reports ‘Dahmer’ creator Ryan Murphy intends to depart Netflix for Disney

Ryan Murphy, the acclaimed television writer and producer, made waves recently with his decision to leave Netflix and join Walt Disney, according to an exclusive report from Bloomberg News. Murphy, famous for his successful shows like “Glee,” “9-1-1,” and “American Horror Story,” as well as the hit series “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” which became a massive hit on Netflix, is planning a move that could shake up the streaming industry.

In 2018, Murphy signed a lucrative five-year deal with Netflix worth up to $300 million, where he exclusively produced new series and films for the platform. However, as competition among streaming companies intensifies, the battle for original content continues to heat up. Companies are investing heavily in creating unique and engaging content to attract subscribers.

Over the past year, Murphy has been negotiating a new deal with Disney, and most of the details were finalized before the recent writers’ strike in May. Murphy’s contributions to television were recognized earlier this year when he was awarded the Carol Burnett Award by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, joining previous recipients such as Burnett, Ellen DeGeneres, and Norman Lear.

Both Disney and Netflix have yet to comment on the reported move. As the streaming wars continue to evolve, industry watchers are eagerly anticipating the impact of Murphy’s potential transition to Disney.
