Blonde Wig Soars as Suspect Makes Daring Escape from the Crime Scene

A dramatic police chase unfolded in California on Monday night, taking an unexpected turn when the suspect was arrested at a local Denny’s. According to Orange County’s La Habra Police Department, the pursuit started at around 8:20pm local time when the driver of a stolen white work truck led officers through Corona and into Norco. Surprisingly, the driver followed traffic rules, using their blinkers and stopping at intersections, as reported by CBS News. After an hour, the chase continued on the 91 Freeway and off it, with the police in pursuit.

The situation escalated when the driver suddenly stopped in the middle of an intersection and reversed into a police cruiser twice before attempting to flee once more. When other police vehicles tried to surround the truck, the driver rammed into all the cop cars, then sped away, crashing into a chain-link fence and driving over an embankment back onto the freeway. The truck dragged a part of the fence along as it traveled in the opposite direction of traffic in the westbound lanes. The intense scene was captured by an animated ABC7 reporter aboard a helicopter, as seen in this video.

Contrary to initial assumptions, the driver turned out to be a woman. During her escape, she abandoned the stolen truck and fled on foot through nighttime traffic, eventually seeking shelter at a nearby Denny’s. In the process, her blonde wig and a shoe flew off. The Orange County Register reported that the police quickly surrounded the Denny’s and apprehended the suspect. The 26-year-old Los Angeles resident was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of stolen property, and evading police. Police later discovered that she was on parole following a conviction for burglary and was taken to a hospital for unknown reasons before being booked. (Read more stolen cars stories.)
