Diablo 4’s First Expansion: Vessel of Hatred
Diablo 4’s first expansion will be called Vessel of Hatred. It will introduce a never-before-seen class and is set in the Diablo 2 region of Nahantu. The expansion will delve into the fate of Mephisto and his plans for Sanctuary.
World of Warcraft: The Worldsoul Saga
Blizzard has announced The Worldsoul Saga, a larger narrative encompassing the next three expansions for World of Warcraft. The first expansion, titled The War Within, is set to release in 2024.
Chris Metzen, the legendary figure behind WoW, revealed these expansions at BlizzCon. He described them as the “culmination of the first 20 years of our storytelling” and a gateway to the next 20 years of adventure.
The War Within will transport players to the subterranean kingdoms in Azeroth, introducing the Nerubians and the Earthen Dwarfs as an allied race. The expansion will feature various new zones, dungeons, raids, and exciting activities, including the return of Xal’atath, a talking knife, and the introduction of War Bands, a community-focused feature.
Details about the other expansions are scarce, but the second expansion, Midnight, will take place in Azeroth’s “Old World” of Quel’thalas, where Void forces threaten the Sunwell. The third expansion, The Last Titan, will explore Northrend, the setting of Wrath of the Lich King.
World of Warcraft: Classic Adds Cataclysm Expansion
World of Warcraft: Classic fans will soon experience the Cataclysm expansion, which revamped Azeroth, altered questlines and lore, and introduced the Worgen and Goblins as playable races. The Cataclysm expansion also brought the destructive dragon Deathwing and the new profession of Archaeology.
In addition, the upcoming Classic’s Season of Discovery, starting on November 30, will allow players to create new characters and level them up to 25, unlocking unique “class-altering abilities.” Prepare for unconventional combinations like tanking Warlocks and mage healers!
Overwatch 2 Introduces Mauga, the First Samoan Hero
Blizzard officially introduced Mauga as Overwatch 2’s latest hero. Mauga, a heavy assault character, hails from Samoa. Armed with devastating weapons like the incendiary chaingun and the volatile chaingun, Mauga is a force to be reckoned with. His signature move, Overrun, allows him to charge through the battlefield, obliterating everything in his path.
Hearthstone: Showdown in the Badlands
Hearthstone’s next major expansion, Showdown in the Badlands, embraces a wild west theme within Azeroth. The expansion serves as an origin story for Hearthstone’s iconic characters, Reno Jackson and Elise Starseeker, who must work together to foil a dastardly mining operation in the Badlands. The expansion, featuring the game’s neutral hero card, is set to release on November 14, 2023.
Diablo Tabletop RPG Announcement
Blizzard Entertainment, Glass Cannon Unplugged, and Genuine Entertainment have announced a tabletop role-playing game adaptation of Diablo. The Diablo TTRPG, inspired by Diablo 4, will explore the overworld and underworld of Sanctuary. The core book is scheduled to launch in Fall 2024, with a Kickstarter pre-order campaign.
Phil Spencer’s Surprise Appearance at BlizzCon 2023
