Broadcaster Elaine Crowley is once again the target of internet scammers using her image to swindle money from the public. Fake ads featuring Elaine have surfaced on Instagram for the second time in a week.
Expressing her frustration on Instagram, Elaine wrote, “Another couple of scams. So sorry to anyone who’s lost money but this has nothing to do with me. @meta please do something. It’s getting out of control at this stage. I’m sick of it. #scammers #scamalert.”
Elaine shared an image of the fraudulent ad, which features two pictures of her, one displaying a seemingly dramatic weight loss. The caption claims that Elaine has achieved an incredible figure through her unique ritual and provides a link to “Mannequin-couture.com.” It is strongly advised not to visit this website.
Elaine’s followers expressed their outrage in the comments, with one saying, “This is so wrong,” and others calling it “absolute cheek”. Many sent messages of support, saying, “terrible Elaine”, “So sorry Elaine x”, and “Absolutely disgusting behavior, sorry you’re experiencing this.”
This is not the first time Elaine’s fans have been targeted by these fake ads. In a previous incident, the ads promoted a dieting plan using Elaine’s identity.
Commenting on the recurring issue, Elaine wrote, “Can’t believe this is happening again.” The fake ad included three photos of Elaine claiming that she had lost 41 pounds in two months. She emphasized that the ads are not genuine and warned people not to hand over any money.
Expressing her exhaustion and frustration, Elaine called out Facebook and Instagram for allowing these scams to use her image and impersonate her. She urged her followers to report the fraudulent pages, saying, “***Scam please report if you see this page** So sick of Facebook and Instagram scams using my image and impersonating me.
