Aug. 3 (UPI) — NFL legend Tom Brady has made a strategic move by acquiring a minority stake in Birmingham City, a prominent Championship league soccer club based in England. The announcement was made by the club on Thursday, exciting fans and supporters across the globe.

“Birmingham City is an iconic club with a rich history and passionate fans. It is a great honor for me to be part of the Blues,” said Brady in a press release. “BCFC is known for its teamwork and determination, and I am thrilled to collaborate with the board, management, and players to elevate our beloved Second City club to new heights.”

“I have had the privilege of being part of some extraordinary teams throughout my career, and I am eager to bring my knowledge and perspective to Birmingham,” added Brady, showcasing his excitement and enthusiasm for the venture.

Brady’s partnership with Knighthead Capital Management has enabled him to become a minority owner of the club. As chairman of a newly-formed advisory board, Brady will work closely with the club’s board and the leadership team of Birmingham City.

In addition, Brady will serve as an advisor to the club’s sports science department, focusing on areas such as health, nutrition, wellness, and recovery systems and programs. Furthermore, he will contribute to enhancing global marketing efforts and identifying potential commercial partnerships.

Brady has previously collaborated with the Knighthead ownership group in various ventures. Last year, he acquired a stake in a Major League Pickleball team, showcasing his commitment to expanding his influence in different sports. Additionally, his company, Brady, was announced as the apparel partner for Knighthead’s World Endurance Championship racing team earlier this year.

Diversifying his investments, Brady has also made a mark in women’s basketball. He agreed to purchase a minority stake in the Las Vegas Aces, a prominent team in the WNBA, demonstrating his dedication to supporting women’s sports.

Birmingham City’s recent acquisition adds another milestone to Brady’s illustrious career. The retired Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, who announced his retirement in February, has become a prominent figure not only in American football but also in various sports industries.

Birmingham City, which finished 17th in the Championship last season, aims to regain its former glory. As they face Swansea in their upcoming Championship match in Wales, the club hopes that Brady’s involvement will contribute to their success.
