Attendees were met with abysmal conditions, as luxury accommodations turned out to be tents and gourmet food became cheese sandwiches. Not to mention, many of the scheduled performers were absent.
The disastrous event was the subject of two competing documentaries, Netflix’s “FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened” and Hulu’s “Fyre Fraud.” McFarland, after pleading guilty to wire fraud charges related to the festival, served a six-year prison sentence. However, this setback didn’t deter him from announcing his intention to organize a second Fyre Festival on X, formerly known as Twitter, in April 9th.
