Renowned TV producer Bill Geddie, known for co-creating the influential daytime talk show, The View, alongside Barbara Walters, has sadly passed away at the age of 68. The news of his death was confirmed by his family, who expressed their devastation while also expressing gratitude for the time they had with him.

However, Geddie’s impact extended beyond the realm of television. At home, he was an exceptional husband and father, possessing a larger-than-life persona that resonated with everyone around him. His love for television and entertainment was undeniable, as he dabbled in various creative endeavors such as screenwriting, podcasting, playing the guitar, and songwriting. From country to jazz, Geddie had an eclectic taste in music, with The Beatles being his favorite band. He cherished a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet his personal hero, Paul McCartney. Geddie sadly passed away on Thursday in Rancho Mirage, California, due to heart-related issues. Hailing from Texas, he made substantial contributions to The View from its inception in 1997 until 2014. His sudden demise was mourned by Joy Behar, a longtime co-host of the show, who expressed her sadness and recognized Geddie’s dedication and loyalty to his staff. She also highlighted his love for comedy, laughter, and cigars. Behar expressed her gratitude to Geddie and Barbara Walters, acknowledging the opportunity they provided her to be a part of The View.

Bill Geddie’s professional collaboration with Barbara Walters spanned over 25 years, during which they worked together on various ABC News projects, including the annual 10 Most Fascinating People specials. Walters herself passed away in 2022 at the age of 93. In addition to his work on The View, Geddie served as an executive producer on Tamron Hall from 2019 to 2020.

Geddie is survived by his wife, Barbara, and his two daughters, Allison and Lauren. His legacy in the television industry and his impact on daytime talk shows will be remembered for years to come.
