Biden Slams Climate Deniers as ‘Dying Breed’ of ‘Lying Dog-Faced Pony Soldiers’: A Bold Stand on Climate Change

President Joe Biden emphasized the declining numbers of climate-denying “dog-faced pony soldiers” as the world takes serious steps to address the climate crisis. His unique comment was made during a press conference in Vietnam following the Group of 20 (G20) summit in India.

During the press conference, when asked about the failure of rich nations to reach an agreement on phasing out fossil fuels at the G20 summit, President Biden highlighted that despite this, nations had committed to significantly increasing renewable energy resources.

Referring to a classic movie, the president stated, “There’s a lot of lying, dog-faced pony soldiers out there about global warming. But not anymore. All of a sudden they’re all realizing it’s a problem.” He added, “And there’s nothing like seeing the light.”

Furthermore, President Biden mentioned that although the G20 hadn’t taken significant steps to limit fossil fuel production, progress towards reaching an agreement was being made. He expressed his astonishment at the fact that global warming was dominating discussions at the G20 conference.

While environmental groups expressed disappointment with the G20 leaders’ failure to address climate change effectively, President Biden’s comments aimed to reassure individuals. However, Greenpeace International criticized the leaders for not phasing out fossil fuels and for committing only to existing targets and policies to triple renewable energy sources.

It is not the first time President Biden has used the expression “dog-faced pony soldier.” He has previously explained that the phrase came from an old movie, potentially a John Wayne film or the 1952 Tyrone Power film “Pony Soldier.”

Regardless of the origin, President Biden’s staff has clarified that he uses the phrase in a lighthearted manner and has used it on multiple occasions before.
