Authorities recovered a body from a well in Avon after intensifying the search for a man who had been missing since September.
A spokesperson for the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office informed Boston 25 that the body was discovered in a well located near East High Street.
No obvious signs of trauma were evident on the body, according to the Norfolk DA’s office.
A tentative identification was made at the scene, but official confirmation is pending.
A town spokesperson specified that the search for the man focused on an old well in a densely wooded area of the property, which had been previously explored.
On Wednesday, Avon police announced on Facebook that they were seeking 45-year-old Keith McKechnie, last seen on September 7.
McKechnie is described as 5′09″ and approximately 275 lbs., with long dreadlocks and a full brown/gray beard, often wearing a tie-dyed t-shirt.
The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston for an upcoming autopsy.
Further details will be disclosed as they become available.
